Simplicity

This was taken in Santillana del Mar, a small village in Cantabria, about 2 hours away from Santander. How can I describe this village - well, first of all, its called the village of three lies - because -

1. It is not a village of Saints (Santo)

2. It is not a flat village (llana)

3. It doesn't have any seas (Mar)

Needless to say, these are all meant to be endearing and not derogatory by any means. I mean, how can you possibly badmouth a village like this. Stone houses with red roofs, cobblestone streets, and little cozy cafes - and kids playing on the streets, something seriously missing from the hectic lifestyle of today. Its not that big a deal, but I think its more symbolic in the sense that life used to be simpler, and people didn't have to think about all the possibilities of the things that could go wrong with something as simple as kids playing on the street. Symbolic of the youth and its simplicity/innocence, just as this kid, who was having fun kicking around this empty coke bottle. This also reminds me of my days as a kid, when most of the times the box the toy came in was much more interesting than the toy itself....
